Face and favor as a topic has been described by missionaries, observers, journalists who were in China, and also discussed by anthropologists, sociologists and psychologists many times. However, there is still a lack of proper understanding regarding the meaning of face and favor within the Chinese social network, political structure, regarding its culture pattern and value, the traits of face and favor, and what happens when they connect with each other or with power. The author has been engaged in the research of the guanxi law for many years. Since he published a series of research results, he sees the complicated phenomenon as the Chinese way of daily representation, and researches its implications and contexts from a new perspective and theory.
